Microsoft Windows XP Update Service Pack 1

Hi,
By installing Microsoft Windows XP Update Service Pack 1
my System Restore would not work at all. Now Microsoft
recommends that Microsoft Windows Update Q329441 be
downloaded and installed immediately to solve the problem
of Service Pack 1 making the System Restore not to work.
Two questions: 1- Is it important to download Microsoft
Windows XP Update Service Pack 1 and why and what does it
do? 2- If it is important to download Microsoft Windows XP
Update Service Pack 1, should the Microsoft Windows Update
Q329441 be downloaded first to prevent System Restore from
not working?

It probably does not matter which is first.
I would install SP1 first and make sure all was smooth then install
the necessary updates.

Yes SP1 is important, see this link for the fixes (some you may
already have)
