All of a sudden this screen appeared: "This computer is
in use and has been locked. Only the administrator can
unlock it. User name and password required." I don't
want this screen to appear. I was able to get rid of the
password but can't find a way to eliminate the pop-up.

Hi Del,
In your display properties have you enabled the screen saver 'on resume
password protect'? If you have and do not want the computer to lock the
workstation/return to the welcome screen when the screen saver is interupted
you will want to uncheck that.
