Though I have novell client 4.83sp2 loaded on my win xp
prof machine,I am not able to save *.doc file in the
server which is G: drive.I get error message :" the file
is either write protected, damaged etc. This is happening
only with Word Document file. Also if i try to save a doc
file from my C: drive to the network G: drive it doesnot
save.
Please advice solution to solve this problem.

2 possibilities to check out -
A) Is it possible you, or somebody else, already had the file open
before you looked at it? This would probably give you a message when you
open the file warning that you could only open it as read-only.
B) Do you have rights on the Novell server to save files in the
folder in question? To check this, go to Windows Explorer. Right-click
on the file and select properties. One of the tabs on the Properties
popup window should be labeled "Netware Rights". Click on this tab. At
the bottom look for "Effective Rights". You need Write, and possibly
Create and Modify, to be enabled (they will be displayed in black, not
grayed out.) You will need to talk to your tech support people about
changing (adding to) your rights.
