HOW DO I STOP SOME OF MY PROGRAMS FROM SARTING UP EVERY
TIME I TURN THE COMPUTER ON?? PLEASE HELP

type msconcig at the run prompt, select startup over at the right side,
unclick the ones your talking about - or look in the start menu- programs -
start folder.

Linda;
If you have applications starting up and you do not want them to, the
best place to start is in the application itself.
Look for something like "Settings" or "Options".
Then look for something like "Load at Start-up" uncheck or disable it.
If there is no other option, you can go to msconfig Start-up tab.
Since this tab is intended for troubleshooting, it is a bad place to
start.
However this should not be the first place to start.
There are applications that will simply recreate the line in msconfig
if the original is unchecked.
The end result can be many identical entries and one checked.
I have seen this with as many as 8 entries (IIRC).
