View Full Version : Tweak UI Problem

Hello. I recently installed the Tweak UI Powertool to
correct some icons that were in a folder. Unfortunately,
when I clicked on "Repair Icons," the program reset all
icons, including the ones on the desktop. Now, I want to
change back all the icons like they were before, because
they all look as if the monitor setting is on 256 colors,
even though I'm using a 16-bit color setting. I've tried
uninstalling Tweak UI to see if all the icons would go
back to as they were before, but to no avail. I also
tried going to the individual properties for the ones on
the desktop and changing the icon, but that didn't work
either. Is there anything I can do? Please help. Thank
you.

The obvious question is why are you using only 16 colors? Are you referring
to the icons only or to your desktop?

Hi Jae,
Common issue with TweakUI. These settings need to be reset. You can either
do it manually or run my edit.
Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key and change the settings to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\desktop\WindowMetrics]
"Shell Icon BPP"="16"
"Shell Icon Size"="32"
Repair the Icon View (Line 4)

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
