Can I run a DOS application under windows XP.Please
explain significance of emulation mode versus native mode
(as in Windows 98)Thanks Joel

Hi, Joel,

You should be able to run most Dos applications in XP.
Just go to the Windows Command prompt, type CD\ to be in the Root directory.
Then just point to the Dos program, either in A: drive or on your Hard
drive.

Since there is no more pure Dos, Windows runs an emulation of Dos.
It actually does a better job of running games and other programs, than Dos
ever did.

XP is not able to run DOS programs that accesses the hardware directly.
These are mainly diagnostic or utility programs.
Additionally you will have problems with most late DOS games. The early
games mostly do work, but the later games often don't (protected mode, high
resolution graphics etc.)
