I would like to permanently remove a few items from the
startup without having to do it through msconfig. (That
just fusses at you every time you boot up that you have
unchecked items there.) I've got some things that the
Add/Remove programs didn't clean out. Didn't have much
success in the KB.
Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen,
You can remove the entries of the programs from these locations:

In the registry (Start>Run regedit.exe)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunServices

Startup folders:
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
