Losing Drive Letter with XP Professional

Drive F is a Sandisk Smartmedia card reader connected via
USB. If it isn't used for about a week the drive
disappears. Replugging the USB connection restores. How
can I stop the drive disappearing?

For what it's worth, that might be normal behavior. I
have the same experiences with my ZIP external drive,
which stays connected through the printer port. I must
have it turned on when I boot the computer if I expect to
have a drive letter displayed.
