Lost Desktop!

Hi folks,

If you right click your desktop, and then go to arrange
icons, you have the option of turning off the icons on
the desktop.

Unfortunately there does not appear to be a way to turn
them back on, and the Microsoft Knowledge Base method
draws a blank (kbprb KB330170), as the option to turn
them back on is now missing from the menu!

Does anybody know the registry hack or how to fix this
bug?
