straight from Microsoft:
"Thank you for the info. I'm not sure yet what is conflicting with
811493. We currently have a group of developers working on the
problem. We'll get this resolved as soon as possible. Sorry for the
inconvenience," says the note from "Lucy" at Microsoft.

Q811493 conflicts with certain popular AV programs. That is the reason for
the problems some, but not all, users experience.

This is not my experience. I do not use any background virus scanner
and had the same problems with that links from e-mail messages opened
very slow in the IE and the like.

Are you saying the pages opened slowly or IE itself opened slowly? Most of
the problems attributed to this update are from the program itself opening
slow. For instance you click on a link and it might take as long as 20
seconds for IE to finally decide to pop up. I was having problems like that
but page loading itself wasn't affected.

The IE opened slowly. It took about ten seconds until the IE window
appeared. In the meantime Windows was blocked so one couldn't even
change to other tasks to continue working here.

ahh, ok. that's it then. The way you wrote it the first time I thought you
meant the internet traffic itself was slow.
