I have found it to be most stable when you manually set
the minimum and maximum the same, and choose a number
that is 2x the amount of memory you have.
So for you that would be 1536.
Try that.

Some games require that there be some kind of page file.
Let Windows handle this. This is a very debatable issue
along the lines of, _How many angels can dance on the head
of a pin?_

I hope you didn't get out of my post that you should not
have a page file. It is a very important part of running
your computer, and it is the most stable when it is not
sizable.
This is the point i was getting at, sorry if i was not
more specific.
