I just had the same problem. I updated my XP Media
Edition and now I can't get the update function to
display from the Microsoft update web site. All it does
is say THANK YOU and some text that describes the service.

I waiting for a replay as well.

I had the very same experience. After enabling "Automatic Updates..." in
Services, it works fine.
(Start>Run> Services.msc)
