Is there a way with XP to find out the number of files
stored on the hard disk? I've tried, but can't find any
way to do it.
Thanks

Open windows Explorer, go to that hard drive (not any subdirectory on it),
click on any file or directory once, press ctrl+a (marks all files +
directories in the root directory), right-click on any of tyhe marked files
and select properties. It should tell you how many files and directories
tehre are, and the space taken on the hard drive by those files.

Thanks--it works. I would never have been able to figure
out how to do it on my own.
