View Full Version : explorer.exe slow response time...

While I'm in the mood to post about irritating little things that get on my
nerves... :-)

Every once in a while, when I right-click on some file(s) in Explorer, it'll
sit there and completely stop responding from anywhere between 5 and 20
seconds before the context-menu shows up. *Extremely* annoying when I'm on
a disk cleanup binge. Sometimes I'll get this even after a fresh reboot.

I used to see this sort of thing with Explorer when doing file operations on
files sitting on a remote server, going through a slow or busy LAN
connection (I'd chalk it up to being normal in this sort of situation), but
in this case I'm dealing strictly with local files, don't have any mapped
network drive, etc. Nothing I'm running originates from a LAN either, so I
have no idea where the delay comes from. CPU usage does *not* spike
(sitting at 1-2%), and there's absolutely zero disk activity.

Any ideas?
