I am going to build my own Home Theatre PC and would like
to utilize the Windows XP Media Edition. Can I buy this
directly from Microsoft?? I understand there are some
performance issues if the correct hardware is not used. I
would be willing to share this information with
Microsoft. Please advise ASAP...

Hi Keith
Windows XP Media Center Edition is only available legally with a new
computer or as part of an MSDN subscription for development purposes only.
Though with some lower power video cards there could be some performance
issues, its mainly that there are only a few TV Tuner cards which are
compatible so you would need a card such as a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 250 or 350
with the correct drivers for TV to work at all.
You might be interested to look in the Media Center newsgroup
(microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter), or http://www.xpmce.com/

Hope that helps
