I can't really understand all the geekness in the description MS puts out on
their web site. I don't use messenger, but I do have a home network.
Is that what .net is all about?
Should I be using MS 2003 net server? Is it installed over XP? Or does
it replace XP?

You would be thinking of Microsoft .NET Framework. This is basicly a new
runtime for applications programed using Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET.
Some new programs will require this to run their applications.
..NET Passport is a universal web sign in account. Sites like Amazon,
Hotmail, and many other require you to have this to sign up or to make
purchases.
If you dont really know what any of this is you dont need to worry about it.
..NET Framework is good to install of your PC though.
You dont need to worry about Windows Server 2003 at all (It lost the .NET in
the name) This is a server OS. You can't install nor use this with XP.

I have visited this site and I am certain you could deal with any in
that list without having to have a so called net passport
