Let me re-phrase my last post.

If I transfer a bunch of files to another folder and then
leave, when I get back I see that nothing has been
transfered yet because it want's to know if I would like
to replace some old file with some new one. Some programs
will automatically rename duplicate file names by adding a
(1), (2), etc to the end of the filename. This way it will
save the file and then you can worry about renaming or
whatever later. Does Windows have this capability? Are
there any tweaks I'm not aware of that can do it?

Thanks,
Pete

Windows doesn't have this capability. You might run a search on Google for
a freeware or shareware app that can handle this chore. www.google.com

Hi Pete,

The only workaround is Yes to all or No to all. For No, hold down the shift
key when choosing.

Yeah, I caught that Michael. :o) He doesn't have many options, besides not
many know of the No to all.

The option is built into windows. And will certainly do it if copying =
files in the same directory.

Programmers would call the shell's copy command with this flag.

FOF_RENAMEONCOLLISION Give the file being operated on a new name =
in a move, copy, or rename operation if a file with the target name =
already exists. =20
