View Full Version : Windows Explorer

I am constantly getting the message "Windows Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close." It started
out happening just when I tried to access My Computer,
Control Panel, etc. from the start menu. Now it happens
at random as well as when I try what I mentioned above.
I can work around the problem to get into My Computer by
going through the "Run" command on the start menu, but
that is getting irritating and does not always work. Any
help would be appreciated.

Hi Sam,

I have seen this behavior caused by Hotbar, Xupiter and the similar. If
this is the case for you remove them and run a spyware cleaner. Good luck!

Hi,

If you try to use Windows Explorer to view the contents of My Computer, and
the Folders Explorer Bar is displayed, you may receive an error message
similar to the following:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience. Please tell Microsoft about this problem. "

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=320563

Also, disable thumbnail view to determine if it is causing the problem.
