I started with one hard drive that ran windows 98, when I
bought windows XP I put it on another Hard drive to see
if I really liked it. I did so I made it the master disk
and the other hard drive the slave (so to speak). This
worked fine until I knew I wanted to access the slave
from the XP drive, so I upgraded the win98 hard drive to
XP. I used the same disk I had used for the first drive
and it activated just fine, (I think it feel into that
120 time period rumor I have heard about). Now I would
like to remove the slave hard drive and put it in another
computer. Here in lies my problem, when I unhook the
slave drive and try to boot off the master drive my
computer will not even post. No video, no nothing. If I
hook the slave back up bingo, I got computer. Can
anybody give me some ideas.

I doubt you can fix it easily but while you wait for the answer, do a google
for "boot.ini" or "editing boot.ini"
Once you get in, you might have to do a repair.
