A message I posted on 8/12 for help getting xp to work appears to have
dissappeared.

Other messages older then that have not.

Are there rules about posting and what get accepted? Is there anyway to
find if there were any replies once a post disappears? Or if there was some
reason my post was removed?

Hi,

Your post from the 12th still exists, I just looked at it. There was one
response to do a clean install of WinXP, which would be pointless.

As I do not use netscape (haven't in years), I haven't got any answer for
you. Have you tried a netscape group yet? There are many, look here for
them:

Your post is still there, I can see it. I don't use Netscape 7 so
can't offer much advice on why it is failing to run. Unfortunately
apparently now one else was able to offer much either. The only
response was to do a clean install instead of an upgrade. Here is the
entire thread at google:

Hi, Michael.

We often get complaints from users of the Web-based interface that they
can't find responses to their prior posts. But I see that you are using
Outlook Express 6, so you should be able to find your prior posts and all
responses to them quite easily. I can think of several possible reasons you
might be having this problem.

First, are you connected directly to the Microsoft public news server? Or
are you connected via another server that simply "slurps" messages from the
host site and relays them to and from you, often resulting in late,
out-of-sequence, or simply missing posts? Click here:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics

That should bring you right back here, but "cutting out the middleman".

Second, do you need to adjust your OE settings? This newsgroup has received
about 10,000 posts in the past 30 days, or just over 300 posts on an average
day. If your OE is still set to the default (Get 300 headers at a time),
you could easily be missing hundreds of posts on a busy day, perhaps
including your post and/or the responses to it. And the skipped messages
would probably not be picked up on a later day, either. You can click Tools
| Options... and the Read tab to change that to as many as 1,000, or
UNcheck that box and get them all. (But be prepared for a delay; it takes a
while to download 10,000 posts, even with broadband.) Also, click the
Maintenance tab and be sure that you are not deleting downloaded posts too
soon; mine is set to delete them 32 days after I get them, so I can still
see your 8/12 post and replies.

Third, click in the header of the From column to sort your messages by
sender; click again to switch between A-Z and Z-A. Then find your name in
this list.

Fourth, if you like, you can click Automatically expand grouped messages, on
the Read tab, so that you see all responses to all posts. I prefer to keep
this box unchecked and let OE expand the group when I read the first post in
the group or click the + in front of that post.

And, Fifth, you can click View | Current View...| Show replies to my
messages (or just press Ctrl+H if your OE6 is up-to-date) to see only your
own posts and any responses to them.

That's about all I can think of for now. ;^}

Thanks for those answers, they have solved that problem and hopefully put me
on to solutions to the others.
