View Full Version : windows XP not shutting down

I've recently installed all the critical updates (I think
there were about 3). And now the only way I can get my
computer to shut down (or re-start) is by pulling the
plug.
The on-off button doesn't work neither do the options
from the ctrl-alt-del window. It doesn't lock the
computer up - I can carry on working normally.
any help on this?

Hi Emma,
Have you tried uninstalling the new hotfixes yet? Check Add & Remove in the
Control Panel.
If it works, please post back with the hotfix you removed.

To shut down without pulling the plug, have you tried holding the button in
for 5 or 6 seconds?
