Often times, after viewing certain websites or installing
programs like Kazaa, Quicktime, RealOne, etc... they
will leave programs set up to run at startup. Some
are "spy-ware" while others are updaters. In ther
startup tab there is a column that displays command. If
it is a program that you dont recognize as being
necessary, look it up in your boot drive. Things
associated with media players, AIM, Kazaa and others can
be turned off from msconfig, but it is probably safest to
turn them off within the program. Be careful not to turn
off anti-virus software or programs specific to your
machine (i.e. HP drivers or ATI video drivers/programs).
alot of "spy-ware" programs can be uninstalled via the
Add/Remove Programs control panel. but, try to avoid
turning things off from here unless you cannot do so
anywhere else.
