taking incoming calls

is it possible to set up your computer so that you may
receive an incoming call while you are online?
i know it is possible i was just womdering how to set
mine up so that when online if someone calls my home the
screen will pop up and say you have an incoming call do
you wish to ignore it or receive it and you click on one
and can take the call?!?!?!?!

Yes you can ... with some caveats. Generally (but not always), you need a
V92 modem AND, you need V92 connection to your ISP.

Most of the newer V92 modems will provide the software (applet) to allow you
to use MoH (Modem on Hold). Be sure to get the latest drivers. There are
also third party programs available but I can't recommend any specific ones
(just remember, if it's free, check the privacy issues very carefully!). Do
an internet search as the other responder indicated.

Hello,
If you live in the Southern United States and have BellSouth as your
local telephone provider. They offer a service of "internet Call
Waiting". It costs an additional $4.95 a month. This is in addition
to your phone bill. It works fine with 'windowsXP', ie6, and msn8.5.
I have been using this service for a year now and have had no problems
in being notified of a call. You may want to check with your local
phone company to see if they offer a similar service.
