View Full Version : preventing prompts when cd disk is inserted

Since upgrading to XP Service Pack 1 (last year), I have
been unable to prevent my computer from showing an
Autoplay popup, and then also a dialogue box asking me
what action I want to take, every time I insert a CD-ROM
disk. I have right-clicked on Properties for the CD
Drives, and tried to apply settings indicating that I
wanted no action to be taken for all the various types of
disks, but (what is apparently) the default setting keeps
coming back. Is there a way of stopping this annoyance?

Turn off AutoPlay in TWEAKUI.EXE > My Computer > AutoPlay > Types.
TweakUI is available from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp.
