View Full Version : How do I get rid of an unwanted toolbar on desktop?

Doug
August 9th 03, 08:12 AM
Hi Kelly,
I ran; Remove Added IE Toolbar Entries (Line 174)at=20
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm. It got rid=20
of the unwanted toolbar in IE, thanks. However, I still=20
have the unwanted toolbar in desktop. When I turn the=20
computer on and log onto my profile it comes on in the=20
upper right part of desktop, it's shorter and different=20
than the one I had in IE. I have to click on the x twice=20
to get rid of it, but then it comes up again the next time=20
the computer is turned on, regardless of who logs onto=20
their profile. I looked at the URLs you sent me, including=20
the part about removing files. I don't know what I need to=20
remove. Any ideas of how I can get rid of that toolbar?
Thanks for your help,
Doug

Kelly,
How do I send you a screen shot. When I try to copy and=20
paste the tool bar it doesn't let me. The toolbar sits on=20
top of any program I open, it's really annoying. Looking=20
at it from left to right, it has the following buttons: X,=20
Home, Links, News, Games, Music. Then there is a search=20
window followed by a search button. When I click on the=20
Home link it takes me to the following URL:=20
http://www.active-max.com/
Any help on getting rid of this toolbar is much=20
appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug,
I suppose this toolbar is on the desktop. If yes, then to take a screenshot,
just hit the 'Print screen' button which i think should be on the upper
right hand side of your keyboard. After this open up Paint (Start>all
programs>accessories>paint) and click on Edit>paste. After this Click on
File>Save and save the file in the .jpg format (to reduce the size of the
file). E-mail it to Kelly !

I hope Kelly's work was made a bit easier ;-)
