Taskbar Modifications

When installing an app. usually even when I choose to not
have an Icon placed in Quicklaunch Taskbar, it puts one
there anyway. How do I choose what icons I want to have
in taskbar and permanently remove others.

To get rid of quicklaunch icons just right click and delete.
