How can I get the filing system back that I had in Windows
98? I want My Documents to be in the C: drive, because I
can't get the files in My Documents to open in my favorite
text editor (it only reads from the C:/ D:/ etc. drives,
but not from My Documents (where all my files are!). It
doesn't make sense to me how MS changed this. There must
be a way to do that? Please tell me if you know. I really
appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

"My Documents is in the C: drive. It's just broken out as a separate item
in Windows Explorer because you probably would want to access it often.

If you expand your c drive, you'll see a "Documents and Settings" folder.
In that folder, you'll see the windows accounts that have logged on to that
machine. Open up one of those account folders and you'll see "My Documents"
there.

Your My Documents folder is located in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>
This assumes XP is installed on C:

You can also use TweakUI for XP to change the location of the My Documents
folder. Its in the My Computer, Special Folders portion. TweakUI can be
downloaded from www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
