I just purchased windows xp pro for my dell computer.
The old operating system was windows 200 pro. In trying
to change operating systems, I now have two partitions
each with windows xp running. One partition has only
the windows xp operting system in it and the other
partitions has windows xp and my old programs. How can I
reformat my hard drive into one partition with only one
version of windows xp and clean out all my program and data
files? I would like to start over and add any programs
myself. Help..... I tried to reformat from dos but
the error message said i could not format from dos.

If you don't want anything at all..............
Set your bios to boot from the CD & just do that.......
Follow along with it & tell it you want to format & do a cleany.
