I restarted my computer and all of a sudden I have the
common tasks bar showing on my desktop.I tried removing
it but there are no options for it in the desktop
properties.
How do I get rid of it?

Run attached file. You need to access these groups correctly to see the attached file.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize
will configure OE to allow access.

Hi,
I dont think you would be able to access David's attachment as your are
using the Web to access the newsgroup.
So here is an alternative: Got to this site and download and apply the edit:
Remove common tasks from the desktop (line 15, left column)
