How do I stop unwanted e-mails from being received. I
get 300 a week.

Thanks

You mean is there something native in the operating system to stop it...No!

First, if you sign up for anything online that requires an e-mail address,
get an address specifically for that purpose. With Hotmail and other free
e-mail services you can easily set up a new e-mail account, use that account
for such purposes because as soon as you enter your e-mail address at a web
site, it becomes a magnet for spam.

Second, while you can't do much about your posting properties when using the
web interface, if you used an newsreader such as Outlook Express to read
newsgroups such as this, you could use a fake address in your properties.
The spammers use automated bots that go through these newsgroups collecting
addresses. If your address is fake, their spam goes nowhere.
Here are some links to help with Outlook Express setup:

You also might look into a product called Mailwasher, some have had a lot of
success reducing their level of spam with this application:

I also have written a column on the subject of spam and some things you do
about it. If you choose to read it, ignore the information about using a
proxy as that information is dated and no longer considered a valid means of
spam prevention:

I can't tell you offhand how to *stop* the SPAM but click the link below for
an indication of *why* you are getting it.

Look at Tools>Message Rules>Mail>New... bar. Study the dialog box; it's
fairly straightforward. I checkmarked, "Where the subject line contains
specific words". Then in next section, I selected "Delete from server".
The next time a message comes with the word, it's deleted from your server
and you don't have to deal with it. Add rules as new unwanted mail arrives.
Don't forget to apply the new rule before closing or it won't go into
effect. You will have to create a rule for EACH word and wanted mail with
it will be deleted also, unfortunately.
