View Full Version : Windows XP crash - not loading
Ray
December 5th 03, 08:29 PM
I have installed Service Pack 3 from Microsoft web site
and it has crashed my windows XP! The error messages I
get are:
1. The procedure entry point AssoIsDangerous could not be
located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll.
2. User Interface Failure, The logon User Interface DLL
msgina.dll failed to load. Replace the DLL or restore
original DLL.
I have copied fresh copies of DLLs into appropriate
locations but it still does not resolve the problem. MS
admits Service Pak 3 is problematic, but does nothing to
help! Can any of you help please?
Thanks
Will Denny

Well, if the OP attempted to install SP3 for Win2000 on a WinXP system, that
sure would create on hell of a mess. Don't know if it would be allowed, but
the file damage would be enormous.
System Restore?

Hi Rick
SP3 gave me the 'you are not running...' error message - expected.
SP4 - nothing in any logs, no error messages - just the very quick on =
screen flash. - and nothing else.
There again, neither were supposed to be installed into XP.
