When I looked at upgrading XP Home to XP Professional it
did not show XP Home as one to the registered products
that XP Professional recognized.
Can I upgrade from XP Home to XP Professional with the
regulare Microsoft upgrade product

Yes you can. Although it did not occur to the designers of the box,
this is the (only) tool for the upgrade. Just run the CD from the
existing system
And be sure first that you *need* one of the facilities that are Pro
only - don't do it just because it sounds macho
