View Full Version : What's Annie doing in my win.ini?

Hey. I have this...

[annie]
CaptureFile=
VideoDevice=0
AudioDevice=0
FrameRate=667111
UseFrameRate=1
CaptureAudio=1
WantPreview=0
MasterStream=-

....in my win.ini, and would like to know what it belongs to --
something to do with capturing or playing back media streams, but I
really don't feel like uninstalling 10-20 apps and players and codecs
and browser plugins and cards to see what will make it go away (if
they do care to clean up after themselves, that is). I don't even
want it gone anyway, I'm just curious.

Obviously, web-searches involving the string "annie" are likely to
return a lot of pages with Annie being a someone rather than a
something.

Anyone an idea?

Ally,

The "annie" thing looks like settings from a game or maybe even an old
multimedia application.

I would just comment them out for a while and see if any
game / app doesn't run anymore or isn't regged anymore.

To comment them out, place a semi-colon at the beginning of each line;

;CaptureFile=
;VideoDevice=0
;AudioDevice=0
;FrameRate=667111
;UseFrameRate=1
;CaptureAudio=1
;WantPreview=0
;MasterStream=-

....which was exactly what I was hoping to avoid :) -- besides, I
suspect anything that reads these win.ini entries would just silently
revert to its default settings if I removed them or commented them
out. Since my current XP installation is but a week old or so, I
might not even notice (because I haven't configured or worked with
most of the not-so-essential stuff yet). Oh, well. It's not that
important I guess.

Thanks,

~Ally
