In Win 98, one could go into the file manager and make
folders for the programs menu like nameing one Microsoft
and putting in all Microsoft applications to shorten the
Programs menu.

I have tried to do this in XP to no avail. I've gone in
Explorer, documents and settings, blah blah blah however,
not all of my programs are listed. I've unhid
everything. Please help as I have so many item
under "All Programs" that they go off the screen.

Many thanks!

In addition to Documents and Settings\<user name> you need to look in
Documents and Settings\All Users, as well.

Right click the start button, Explore all users
Go to Documents and Settings\ start menu \ programs under D&S\ all
users (or D&S\start menu \yourname - I don't know that it matters).
..
Create your new folders in the righthand pane, then drag and drop in
your program shortcuts from the various Document and Settings\\
Programs sources. You can confirm that things are going along as they
should by clicking the start button and looking at program listings on
the main menu. I'd suggest making one new folder, then looking for it.
