How can i apply or replace a desktop icon with a pix file
(.gif, .jpeg, .bmp, etc),obtained off the web?
Example: I have "google search engine website" shortcut
on my desktop but the icon is the generic windows web
icon that i'd like to replace with a "google" icon. I've
downloaded a couple of "google" icons but can't seem to
apply it correctly to the current icon i want to
replace.
Am i saving it incorrectly when downloading? Is this
something that can be done without purchasing additional
software?
Thx, bruce

Hi Bruce,
Navigate to the Temporary Internet Files, and drag the icons to the desktop
and rename them to whatever name you like.
Create a folder called Icon Selection. Move all of the renamed favicons to
this folder placed in the root directory of C. Right click on the Icon,
select Browse and navigate to your Icon Selection folder. Choose the
renamed favicon and click ok. These icons will be permanent.
When you right click on an icon, select browse and navigate to the Icon
Selection folder. Choose the renamed favicon you want and click ok. Your
customized icons will be permanent.
