Can I re-install XP without losing all my information?
When I did it before, all my programs had to be re-
installed even though tech support said that would not
happen. What did I do wrong? Any Ideas?
Thanks

Chris, in this thread, has you on the links as to what to do.
As to whether or not you will have to reinstall your applications, there's
no definite answer. Some programs may work just fine, others may need to be
reinstalled. It depends on the application and even that may vary by setup.
You may not have done anything wrong, it may have just been a quirk in the
application.
Other factors, if you have installed SP1 since acquiring XP and SP1 didn't
come preloaded on your system, if you do a repair install or install XP over
itself, it takes the setup back to pre-SP1 settings and that could cause the
applications to have to be reinstalled.
Also, other updates you've done are wiped out in a repair install or
reinstall and that could be the reason you needed to reinstall your
applications.
