When I click on my computer it takes almost a minute to
populate or comes up "not responding". But all programs
from the start menu come up fast. Using windows xp
explorer.exe seems to have a problem.
Anyone with this simular problem? I checked all my
hardware and all seems to be working fine.

Open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, look for
errors that correspond to when you have this problem, double click the
error, the information contained within might give a clue as to source of
the issue.
Place the XP CD in the drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check
System Compatibility," the report it generates may give a clue as to the
source of the issue.
Be sure your drivers are up to date, especially for your graphics card and
soundcard and all peripherals connected to the system. Don't use Windows
Update for this, go to the device manufacturer's web site. If you install
updated drivers, ignore any warnings the drivers have not been signed by
Microsoft...that is not the issue.
