Is there a way to prevent activation of a window or link
w/o clicking on it. i have a touchpad on my laptop and
if the pointer stays on a link for any length of thime,
xp takes me to that location or activates that window.
Is there somewhere i can turn this off in XP??

Thanks

Hello Diane,

I suggest you try
[Start] | Settings | Control Panel | Mouse |
Look for a setting on /TouchPad\.

If you find nothing relevant there,
in TweakUI (for XP), [v2.10.0.0 needs SP 1] http://
www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
(beware line-wrap in hyperlink)

navigate to | Mouse | X-Mouse |
[ ] "Activation follows mouse (X-Mouse)"

Please report back with your findings in this thread of
this newsgroup. I am unable to test this out, because I
have disabled my touchpad via

[Start] | Run | msconfig [OK]
/startup\
[ ] Apoint
[ ] TouchED
