I had a major failure (ye olde operator error!). So I bought Windows XP Home
and installed (had an OEM). Looks my new OS came with SP1 so no java. I
would like to download but the Sun page is hard for me to follow. Can anyone
tell me exactly what I need to have a "java enabled browser". I know that
this has been asked before and tried a google search but a surfeit of info
that I just can't process. If anyone can give me a quick answer, very much
appreciated!

Sorry for the very long delay in thanking both of you. I was part of the
great blackout, and the went on vacation. Thank you both for writing.
