I have ME
Not really having any significant trouble yet
Should I (can I) upgrade to XP without losing or having
to reinstall everything?

Yes you can, and most suggest that you do.

Hi Tom
It is technically possible to upgrade from ME to XP, however if you do you
should make backup copies of anything you don't want to lose. You should
also check to ensure that programs you use such as your antivirus and DVD
player for example are compatible with XP. You should also run the update
advisor and acquire XP compatible drivers for hardware in your machine.
Windows XP Upgrade Advisor:

I would also strongly suggest you sit down and take time to read through the
following page before upgrading

Hope this helped you

ME is a blunder of an operating system. A proper upgrade should not have
any problems. *However* you definitely should back up your files.
If you have problems upgrading, you can use an upgrade CD to do a clean
install.
