I created a new boot disk using Maxtor software which
copied all my files from my current boot disc to the new
one. However, RESTORE does not work when I try to set a
restore point. I get an error regarding srrstr.dll and
other details and it asks me if I want to send this
problem to Microsoft, which I do. But, no answer is found
regarding the problem. I have now tried this twice, once
making the new boot drive Fat 32 and now NTFS. Restore
will still not work.

Hi David,

Have you tried turning it off, rebooting, and turning it back on? SR is a
funny thing some times....

Yes, I have rebooted a dozen times. Even reformated new
disk and copied everything over again this time in NTFS
instead of Fat32 and the system restore still will not
work.

Hi David,

And this is with a disk image copied over by Maxblast? Hadn't heard of that
happening before. Something about the transfer process must not like the new
drive. Start/run services.msc, open up on System Restore, stop the service
and set it to "disabled" in the startup. Reboot. Reverse those steps. It may
not like the hardware change, other than forcing repair install, if this
does not help there may not be much else you can do. SR is not very
configurable, and there is little you can do to "fix" it.

Hey, you might be a nutcase but you are a good one. Your
suggestion worked. I am not sure why but who cares. it
works now. Thanks very much.
