I have tried dropping and dragging the msn e-mail icon
from the start button to the task bar with no success. I
am seeking some way to set up a quick launch for msn e-
mail which my computer bypasses and goes straight to msn
8 which I do not use. Thanks for help with this very
basic question.

What happened when you tried. Can you drag other icons?

Right click a blank area of the Quick Launch bar and select Open Folder.
Then right click in a blank area of the window that opens and select New,
Shortcut and create a shortcut to the program/webpage.

did you try right click on the task bar and click on tool bars, then click
quicklaunch . you will get quicklaunch toolbar next to the start button. you
can drag the mail icon on to it if it is not there already.
