Icon drop shadows lost.

When I moved to a new Dell PC, it was loaded with XP-
Professional. Somewhere, the icon drop shadow was lost in
translation. When I move an icon on my desktop, only the
cursor show position rather than the classic drop shadow.
Looked at System Properties | Advanced |Performance |
Visual Effects and Use drop shadows is selected, but they
still don't work. Does anyone out there know how to get it
back?
