How do I get My Network Places completely off the desktop? I tried removing
it from the Desktop by right clicking and it did hide on the desktop itself,
but it still shows on the Desktop Toolbar.
TIA

Open the Desktop toolbar, right click on the My Network Places shortcut and
select Delete.

If you mean right click on the Taskbar it shows delete, asks me if I really
want to do it, then doesn't work.

Try this advice from MVP Kelly:

Remove Desktop Icons from the Desktop Toolbar:

To remove the IE icon from the Desktop Toolbar, apply the edit below. To
remove all System Icons from the Toolbar (includes the Desktop as well), use
the second edit.

This edit removes My Documents, My Computer, Network Places, IE and the
Recycle Bin. These edits require a log off. If done independently, only
the IE edit needs a logoff. Refresh activates the others.
