Windows 98 has a very easy way to set up "scheduled
tasks" . Things such as scan disk and scheduled shutdown
at a given time can be easily set up. How can I set up my
XP Pro. machine to shutdown automatically at night,
unattended?

Create a Scheduled Task for the SHUTDOWN command. For details type
SHUTDOWN /?
at a DOS prompt.

Open the DOS window and type
SHUTDOWN /?
to find out what command-line parameters you can use and want to use.
Write down or remember the command-line.
In the Scheduled Tasks window create a task for any application, then
open the Properties for this task and overwrite the command-line with
your command-line for SHUTDOWN. Leave the Properties dialog and press
F2 to rename the task.
