Is it possible to downgrade from Windows XP Professional
to Windows XP Home Edition? I tried do that and got this
kind of message: Microsoft does not support downgrading
from XP Professional to XP Home Edition.
Any hints would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Mike
That error message was correct. If you want to 'downgrade' to XP HE, =
you will have to reformat your hard disk and then install XP HE.

Greetings --
The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.
Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Of course, you'll want to back up any important data before
starting.

Are there any reason why you'd want to downgrade? XP Pro
has been proven to be more stable. Also it doesn't
function in a domain, only a workgroup. If you can, stick
with it.

There is zero difference in stability between XP Pro and XP Home. The
two versions are identical, down to the source code level, except for
those added functions and features which are included only in XP Pro.
