I was trying to change the File attributes from "Read-only"
and there was a "grey" check mark in the checkbox ... I
could chnge the check mark to black then disappeared and
apply to the file, but once I close the properties box and
reopen it the grey checkmark is still there and the file is
still read-only. Any ideas? What is the significance of the
"grey" checkmark?

Thanks!

It can't say if it's set or not. Because some files are set and some =
aren't, or you tried to apply it to a folder in which case it applies to =
the contents..
