Can anyone help me? I have recently encountered a problem
with my windows explorer (not IE) shuuting down about a
minuite after i open it. This happens no matter what
files I am looking at. The computer doesn't reboot, just
windows explorer dissapears and my desktop items
reappear. I have all the latest patches and updates on
virus software, and nothing is ever found to be wrong.
Any ideas or suggestions? Please respond to me here and
at: . Thanks for your help.

Hi, Andrew.

That's a new one on me. ;^{ A good place to start might be the System File
Checker. At the Run prompt, type: sfc /scannow

SFC will compare each WinXP operating system file with the "known good" copy
held in your on-disk cache and replace any missing or corrupted ones. Have
your WinXP CD-ROM handy; SFC probably will need to see that.

If that doesn't find and fix the problem, you may need to do an "in-place
upgrade". Post back if you need instructions - or just read a few messages
here; those instructions are given several times a day.

I'm copying this to your email, Andrew, but ONLY because you asked. Please
respond ONLY to the newsgroup so that others may benefit from our
discussion - and so that others may add their own suggestions, or correct
mine. That's what newsgroups are for.
