View Full Version : MICROSOFT UPDATE IN AN EMAIL- Is it a virus?

I had heard someone mention receiving an email like this and they suspected
that it was probably a virus.

I'm hoping that someone here might be able to tell me what this is. I
didn't think MS sent out updates in emails.

I haven't opened it yet.

Yes, it probably contains a virus. Microsoft never sends patches/updates
by e-mail.

I was just about to send in a post cancelling my request for information as
I had just found something about it - delete it.

Apologies if I ticked anyone off by asking the question.

Yes, it is most likely a virus. Microsoft will never send updates or
patches via e-mail.

Above advice applies. Consider this: being the size company it is with as
many people who own Windows in all its versions, imagine the almost sheer
impossibility of reaching everyone. Just the uknown changes in e-mail
addresses would choke their system. Just good ol' horse sense...

Hello all,

As has been stated, Microsoft does not distribute fixes via e-mails. For
more information please visit the following website.

That's pretty much what I thought. How would they know my email address
anyway, unless I'd emailed them, which I haven't. Just though I'd check. I
think though instead of bothering people here I'll follow my gut and get rid
of weird emails. :)
