I preface this with the fact that I am a computer novice.
My daughter tried to download a screen saver from a web
site and during the process the computer froze.
Unfortunatly, she just shut off the computer. Now when I
start the computer I get an error screen. It says the
computer did not start correctly, a recent software or
hardware change may be causing a problem.(I have not
changed any software or hardware.)It gives options to
restart the system using Safe Mode, Last known good
configuration or start windows normally. If I select any
of the options it begins to start Windows then another
error screen comes up. It states A problem has been
detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is
properly installed.

***Stop:0X000000ED (0X867DC948, 0XC0000032, 0X00000000,

I am at a loss on how to get Windows to restart. Help.

Ken,

I would add to the previous post the Microsoft Knowledge Base article;
315403. (see below) To resolve this issue, boot to Recovery Console and
run "chkdsk /r". (without the quotation marks)
